CULTURES CONNECTED: AUTOMATING THE AMERICAS AND BEYOND

Announcing the 1994 Museum Computer Network (MCN) and the
International Committee for Documentation (CIDOC) Annual Conference:
CIDOC August 28-31; MCN August 31-September 3, 1994. Hosted by the
Smithsonian Institution, The National Gallery of Art and the National
Park Service.

Hello again from Bill Buick! Judging from the volume and international
distribution of requests for registration materials, the conference is
going to be a fantastic opportunity to exchange information about
developments in museum automation. If you are a member of The
International Council of Museums, you will receive registration
materials. If you are interested in becoming a member of ICOM, please
contact: Michelle Devine, MCN/CIDOC 94, Museum Computer Network, 8720
Georgia Avenue Suite 501, Silver Spring, Maryland 20912; tel 301 585
4413; fax 301 495 0810; e-mail [log in to unmask]

New Development: because Vice President Gore is such a strong
proponent of automating research and education organizations, the
conference planning committee has invited him to deliver the keynote
address. They received a letter from his schedule coordinator
advising us that the appearance is under consideration. I'll let you
know as soon as I do about his decision!
