Thanks to everyone who have responded to my earlier request.

This is for those who may not had seen it, I am looking to put together a
list of old recipes and myths that were (and still are) used in
"preserving" artifacts.
The more bizarre the better. So far I have gotten some that suggest using
gasoline to clean paintings & soaking quilts in buttermilk(??).
