There are three books that you may find helpful. They are available from
some conservation suppliers and/or Archetype publications (which you can
find on the web). As Dave Harvey indicates, this is a complicated area for
research as things change frequently. I would start with the Hatchfield
reference and move down from there depending on how deep you want to get
into this topic.

One of the responses to this inquiry mentioned using products that were
known to be appropriate for museums. But, where does one find such a list?
We are also doing new construction, and facing the same pressures from the
board to open it up as soon as possible. Believe me, they were not happy to
hear two years for concrete curing and outgassing! Also I have no idea what
kinds of adhesives to place on the acceptable list, for floors, countertops.
