scope II, Sites and Subjects, narrating heritage, International Conference,
Vienna (Austria), 28-29 September, 2006
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cultural inheritance and its different stories will come into focus at the
international conference scopeII, which takes place in Vienna on 28. - 29.
September 2006.

To the topic "Sites and Subjects, narrating heritage" a number of prominent
scientists and experts from all over the world will bring new impulses into
the current debate of intangible cultural heritage.

Different cultures connect different stories with one cultural object. Thus
stories (contexts) become as important as the objects themselves. The UNESCO
has reacted to this theoretical turn of understanding culture and recently
ratified the convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Heritage.

After Scope I concerned itself with "Information vs Meaning" in 1999 "Sites
and Subjects, narrating heritage" is the second event within the scope
conferences, organized by uma information technology.

In four sessions participants and speakers will – as interactively as
possible – discuss cultural heritage, urban space, museums and their effects
on each other.

Leader of the program committee and key note speaker of the conference is
Harvard professor Homi K. Bhabha. The Austrian artist and art theoretician
Peter Weibel is one of many other international speakers joining the
conference.

The main sponsor of scope II, which this year will take place in the
Augustinertrakt of the Austrian National Library, is
"innovatives.oesterreich.at". The website to the conference is online now.

INFO RELEASE - GERMAN

scope II, Sites and Subjects, narrating heritage, Internationale Konferenz,
Wien, (Austria), 28-29 September, 2006

UNESCO ratifiziert Unfassbares – scopeII

Nach langer Anlaufphase ist am 20. April die UNESCO-Konvention zur Erhaltung
von immateriellem Kulturerbe in Kraft getreten. Am Puls der Zeit liegt damit
die internationale Konferenz scopeII, die am 28. und 29. September 2006 in
Wien stattfindet.

deren Auswirkungen aufeinander.

abonnierbar.
