On a related note to this topic, I saw an extremely powerful exhibition at
one of our neighbouring museums, the Museum of Photographic Arts in San
Diego:

 They are photos taken in Nagasaki within 24 hours of the atomic bomb being
dropped. The exhibit was on display over September 11th this year, and the
museum was anticipating some criticism- however, they got nothing but
positive comments. Personally, just over a year after the attacks on the US,
and with probable attacks on Iraq looming on the horizon, I found the
exhibit a very powerful and necessary reminder of the horrific effects of
bombing civilian populations.
