The Greensboro Historical Museum is pleased to announce a paid internship for Summer 2003 for students with a career interest in museums.  The Davidson Internship provides an opportunity to learn about internal operations at a medium-size museum and to gain valuable professional experience. It requires 125 hours of museum work between May and August, with some flexibility in scheduling. The pay rate is $8 per hour, and the total pay is not to exceed $1,000.  This position does not include Social Security, taxes, insurance coverage, workman's compensation, or sick leave, and the intern is responsible for all expenses, including transportation and housing. 

The 2003 Davidson Intern will work primarily with staff in community history and outreach.  Major responsibilities will be to research and create at least one, and perhaps two, African American History driving tours of Greensboro.  The project involves expanding an existing tour script; developing a viable driving tour, including cost information; writing a tour script handout; and developing a marketing and implementation plan.

Preference will be shown to applicants who:
*       Are enrolled in or a graduate of a history-oriented or museum studies program
*       Are interested in a career in museum work
*       Have research and computer skills
