There was an article about geothermal heating in Vancouver (I think) in a
recent Canadian Architect, and also in one of the two main US Architecture
magazines (again, I think...) about geothermal heating in NY City - both
were for office buildings/apartment buildings. Basically you drill down
several thousand feet... but it seems to be being done more and more - high
initial cost, cheaper costs over time - no oil or natural gas costs (unless
of course the earths core cools off!) I think at least one of them reduced
the overall costs by selling off over capacity to neighbouring buildings..

I'll see if I can dig them out from the magazine mountain here - but I had a
clean up recently :-)
