I love the film made by the Science Museum of Minnesota, Journey: Museums and 
Community Collaboration, about what they did with a controversial exhibit about 
Columbus that they had rented, and decided not to cancel, even after major 
protests of the exhibit in Florida, where it originated. What they did was much 
smarter--they recontexualized the whole exhibit within another exhibit about 
the native people of the Americas, and wrote new labels that they added (they 
didn't remove the original labels) to each exhibit section. Museum News covered 
the story, probably 1993.
