What about art museums that don't collect?  We carry on all the
functions of a museum but without the collection--we exhibit, present
education programs, do scholarly research, publish catalogues...but as a
contemporary art facility.  We don't feel the need to collect and
preserve.  Yet we are not "Disneyland".
