Last week I posted a request for feedback on collection management software.
Thank you to those of you who responded.  Apparently a number of us want
this information, because most of the responses to the message were to ask
me to post the information to the list or send the information to them.  My
professor asked me to pass the following information on to Museum-L.

IMLS Fellowships Available for Digital Image Managers

The School of Library & Information Sciences at the University of North
Texas offers fellowships in three degree programs (MLS, CAS and Ph.D.)

Applications are invited for a one year fellowship to participate in one of
three programs of study designed to provide specialization in the management
of digital images.  Coursework includes a variety of technology, art, museum
and digital imaging classes.  The project is funded by the federal Institute
of Museum and Library Services.  Partners are the UNT School of Visual Arts,
the African American Museum in Fairpark/Dallas, the Dallas Museum of Art and
the Denton Public Library System.  In addition t
There are 12 fellowships of $8,000 for study in the ALA-accredited Master of
Library & Information Sciences, 5 fellowships of $9,000  for students
seeking a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) and 3 fellowships of $12,000
for doctoral students in the interdisciplinary information science Ph.D.

We are looking for students who are passionate about images, the problems of
organization and retrieval  in the digital environment and access to our
cultural heritage.  The successful applicant should be familiar with basic
web technologies.  You should be comfortable working in a team-based work
environment and able to collaborate effectively with diverse members of the
project group.  Curiosity,
a thirst for knowledge and the characteristics of a potential leader will
greatly aid the successful applicant.

Fellows must be admitted by the UNT Graduate School and the School of
Library & Information Sciences and meet all requirements.
We look forward to hearing from you!  Applications should be submitted no
later than November 20, 2000 for notification by December 1, 2000.
