Position:  Development Coordinator (100% Grant-Funded)

Department:  Cape Fear Museum - Wilmington, NC

Application deadline:  4:30PM, Friday, 11/1/02

Minimum salary:  $45,032 + excellent benefits

Funded by Cape Fear Museum Associates, Inc., this position plans, develops,
and  directs  a  comprehensive  fund  raising  program  for  this 501(c)(3)
non-profit  organization (as designated by the IRS) that supports Cape Fear
Museum, which is the state's oldest history museum and is accredited by the
American  Association of Museums.  Reporting to the Museum Director, duties
include  identifying  strategies  to  achieve  fund raising goals; creating
solicitation/campaign   packages   to   secure   funds   from  individuals,
corporations, and foundations; writing grants; developing and monitoring an
annual  budget;  supervising  staff  and  activities associated membership,
volunteers,  and  the  gift  shop; and participating in exhibits and public
relations events, in order to increase funds.  Requires a Bachelor's Degree
in  Museology, Fund Raising, Public Administration or a related field and 5
years  experience  developing  and  administering  successful  fund raising
programs for similar non-profit organizations; or an equivalent combination
of   education  and  experience.   Fund  raising  experience  in  a  museum
preferred.   Must  have  proven  success  raising  funds through membership
drives,  annual  appeals,  and  writing  grants  for  501(c)(3)  non-profit
organizations.   Ability  to  use  various  computer software applications,
valid  NC  Driver's  License,  good  driving record, and own transportation
required.   Hours:  8AM-5PM weekdays; must be available for special events,
evening  meetings, weekend work, and during emergency situations.  Position
is  expected  to  last as long as funding is available.  Applicants who are
referred  for  interviews  will  be  expected  to  provide  a  fund raising
portfolio at that time.  *Pre-employment drug screening required.
