To briefly clarify:
My institution is well aware of all of the good things ALHFAM does. Staff members attend this conference regularly and have also presented. Many of us are members.
However, we are looking to complement (not compete or replace--we know we can't do that!) the programs ALHFAM offers. Just as there are many museum and history conferences, why shouldn't there be multiple living history conferences and symposiums? Especially in a region such as Texas where the big guys are hundreds of miles away.
I appreciate the ideas I've received on and off list!

Melissa
