Have you seen the 4 vol. Image of the Black in Western Art?  This was
published in Fribourg in 1976, and most larger university libraries will
have it. While it may include works you will never be able to borrow (such
as Veronese's Feast in the House of Levi) you might get some good ideas
for material.
