Hi Lisa,
I wouldn't recommend wooden hangers even if you cover them with padding
because of the potential of off-gassing.  Our conservation lab has not
bought hangers in over 5 years but we did get our women's hangers from
Mainetti, an Italian company with Canadian distribution (which I would
not recommend as it takes a very long time and is not always a smooth
transaction, although they have a size we really like).  Their phone #
is (was) 514-376-1876

We bought men's polypropylene hangers from Batts, and I notice in their
catalog they do have several models of hanger with extra long hooks.
