Happy New Year, colleagues! Please have a textile conservator examine
the banners first before you undertake any possible treatment. (uh! uh!
she's going to say it): An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The free referral service to conservators via the American Institute for
Conservation (AIC) is still available to one and all. Check out their
website for all the particulars:
http://aic.stanford.edu/faic/refer.html

You can call (202-452-9545, ext.1), fax (202-452-9328), e-mail
([log in to unmask]) or snail mail (AIC, 1717 K Street NW, Suite 200,
Washington, DC 20006). Supposedly, you will be able to submit your
request via the website soon, as well.

Regards,
Meg Geiss-Mooney
