AAM has a list of resources. I got from them a book called "Not for
Profit Accounting Made Easy" by Warren Ruppel and it is pretty good.I
checked the index and there is a section on affiliated organizations.
We made the change a couple of years ago from an accountant who was not
very familiar with not-for-profit, to an auditor who specialized in our
type of accounting and it has been a whole new world for me-he is a
tremendous resource and actually less expensive because he knows what he
is doing and doesn't spend billable time trying to make retail
accounting work for a museum. If you have a lot of questions it may be
worth it to establish that type of relationship.
Good luck!
