My understanding is that there is an opportunity for the development
of an ADDITIONAL facility near Dulles Airport that will allow the
museum to display additional artifacts and larger planes that simply
do not or would not fit on Independence Avenue or are too costly to
move into the current facility.

The National Air and Space Museum's restoration area currently presents
some of these resources and, at least last year, was open to the public
for guided tours based on a reservation system. They do caution the
potential
visitor that there is substantial walking involved and that different
areas are not necessarily climate controlled.
