Please reply to the list.  We are also facing this issue at my site.  In 
order to improve object files, the small museum where I work would like a 
black and white image of each object in the collection taken with a film 
camera. It appears the cost of having all that black and white film 
developed would be prohibitive, however.  I too am concerned about the 
image permanence of digital prints but it appears to be the only 
affordable option for a site that does not do in-house photographic 
developing.
