At the Dallas Museum of Art they take a third option. When one enters
either from undergroud parking or at the main entrance, you have
immediate access to the cafe and just down the hall the museum shop. Part
of the permanent collection and many of the visiting limited time
exhibition are fee access only while part of the permanent collection is
open. However, security is at the entry to the fee-accessible gallaries
as are the oral wands etc one might use. Entry to the gallery is by
ticket only. Members have either free entry or reduce fees in the case
of some traveling exhibits.

I enjoy timing my visits there to a time when I can eat, because the meun
is sort of novelle-Southwestern and unlike anything I can get near home
(120 miles east of Dallas in the Piney Woods of East Texas.)

Also, I appreciate the fact that the DMA recognizes my membership in the
Texas Association of Museums so I get treated like a DMA member as far as
fees are concerned.

Additionally, at the museum shop or the cafe your parking garage ticket
can be stamped for 1 hour free parking, always appreciated in downtown
Dallas. (hus one could Christmas shop quickly and get a bite to eat
without those outrageous parking fees of a down town city.)
