I'd be interested in the ethnic breakdown of museum visitorship too.
Here are the overall figures for Shedd Aquarium for 1997
a.      These numbers are for general visitors only and do not include
school groups, which comprise 20% of our total attendance
b.      there is a considerable difference in distribution when one looks at
our local visitor population versus our tourist visitor population.

Caucasian               80%, with a seasonal range of 77% to 82%
African American          9%, with a seasonal range of 7% to 11%
Hispanic                  5%, with a seasonal range of 3% to 8%
Asian                     3%, with a seasonal range of 2% to 4%
Other                     4%, with a seasonal range of 2% to 5%
