The National Endowment for the Humanities has posted a job announcement for a Program Officer (Humanities Administrator) in the agency’s Division of Preservation and Access.  The duty location is NEH headquarters in Washington, DC (see below for street address).
 
Job Duties:
•         Reviews grant proposals and assesses eligibility and consistency with Endowment goals.
•         Arranges for review and evaluation of grant proposals by expert panelists.
•         Represents the division at professional meetings. 
•         Conducts site visits to promote the division’s programs and to evaluate the accomplishments of the current projects it supports
 
In order to be found minimally qualified for this position, applicants must possess at least a BA in a humanities field; MA or PhD degree preferred.  As part of the online application process applicants will need to respond to a series of questions designed to assess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies:
1.        Knowledge of preservation and access issues and trends in museums, libraries, or other cultural heritage organizations.
2.       Knowledge of preservation, conservation, or collections management focused on humanities collections in cultural heritage institutions.
3.       Knowledge of preventive conservation focused on humanities collections.
4.       Experience in education, in grant activities, and in cultural heritage institutions.
5.       Educational background in the humanities.
6.       Ability to communicate orally.
7.       Ability to communicate in writing.
 
Salary range:  $63,091 to $98,305 per year.
