The JOHN MICHAEL KOHLER ARTS CENTER is seeking a Public Relations/Marketing
Coordinator. 

GENERAL FUNCTION
Develop and implement compelling, creative public relations/marketing
campaigns in order to increase visibility and awareness of the John Michael
Kohler Arts Center at all levels—particularly regional and national—and to
expand its audience base. Act as the Arts Center’s primary public relations
contact, developing and maintaining effective relationships with the media.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Successfully develop and manage effective public relations/marketing
campaigns for the Arts Center as a whole (the brand), targeting in
particular national and regional print and electronic media tailored to the
arts, design, travel, and general consumer outlets.
2. Work with Arts Center department heads to develop program-specific public
relations/ marketing strategies, with corresponding budgets, consistent with
overall Arts Center strategies and tailored to reach specific audiences. 
3. Act as the primary public relations contact for the Arts Center by
coordinating all national and regional public relations activities, including:
· Refining media messaging for the Arts Center, encompassing the development
and updating of Arts Center media materials (i.e., Q&As, talking points,
press kits, etc.).
· Creating and managing press coverage and press events, involving pitch
development, writing and/or supervising the writing and scheduling of press
releases, and scheduling of interviews with appropriate Arts Center staff. 
· Actively developing and maintaining media relationships.
· And proactively reaching out to the media by supervising and working with
the Arts Center writer to generate editorial content for submission to
publications and creating or locating opportunities for senior management to
engage directly with the media through interviews, speaking engagements,
panel discussions, etc.
4. Supervise the public relations/marketing staff, including the marketing
project lead, writer, and designer.
5. Set measurable program goals; analyzing and reporting on progress and
results.
6. Work with the Audience Development Manager to develop initiatives that
leverage regional arts and tourism partnerships. 
7. Network with appropriate national and regional groups and other public
organizations to increase awareness and visibility of the Arts Center.

QUALIFICATIONS 
· A minimum of 5 - 8 years of substantial public relations/marketing
experience with experience in print/broadcast media, public relations
agency, corporate environment, art museum or other arts organization. 
· Master’s or bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations,
communications, or related field or an equivalent combination of education
and experience. 
· Knowledge of public relations principles, practices, and techniques
including the creative and analytical skills necessary to identify and
cultivate media contacts.
· Experience in writing compelling and creative public relations/marketing
plans and successfully pitching same to national and regional print, radio,
and television outlets.
· Effective project management skills, with the ability to balance short-
and long-term priorities and to complete projects on time and within budget
with minimal supervision.
· Solid supervisory skills.
· Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong
presentation skills to communicate and persuade a wide range of audiences.
· Proficiency in using the Internet and MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
