Morning all,

We were recently given a very interesting metal box that is lined with wood,
about the size/shape of a cigar box. It has Oriental designs (lotus
blossoms I think) and a character in the middle of the lid. On the bottom
is a Whitman's Chocolate sticker half peeled off and the metal is stamped
with "Made in China."

We are trying to verify if this really is a Whitman's candy box, as we've
never seen a candy box like this, or if the sticker just got stuck on at
some other time. I found out that Whitman's was bought by Russell Stover,
so I'm trying to contact them to see if they have any information on
collectors' tins that Whitman may have produced. However, I was wondering
if anyone knew of resources for collectible candy boxes (or perhaps Chinese
cigar companies since that's what the box looks like, ha ha) such as
websites, books, or museums.

I have digital pictures, but know how difficult/dangerous opening
attachments can be I'm hesitant to post them.

Thanks,
Heather Marie Wells
