Artrain USA’s Fellowship Application and Guidelines

Artrain USA, America’s Hometown Art Museum, is accepting applications 
through October 17, 2005 for the Maggie and Bob Allesee Fellowship 
Program.  

About the Fellowship
Established in 2001, the Artrain USA Maggie and Bob Allesee Fellowship was 
created to provide recent graduates in the fine and museum arts continued 
learning experiences.  Allesee Fellows have the unique opportunity to see 
the country, meet thousands of people, connect with artists and gain 
valuable work skills.  Fellows continue to develop their professional and 
artistic skills, while broadening their knowledge of the arts, arts 
administration, curatorial and conservation practices.

The Fellowship is open to those who have graduated from a fine arts, art 
history, museum studies or arts administration program within the last 3 
years, have an overall GPA of 2.5 or above and are at least 21 years old 
at the start of the Fellowship.  The ideal candidate will be looking for a 
unique experience, enjoy traveling and have an interest in community 
education and public service.  

Allesee Fellows will travel from approximately January to June 2006.  
Dependent upon the tour schedule, the Allesee Fellowship period may be 
subject to change.

The Fellowship is a paid position that includes housing and a daily per

About the Exhibition
Artrain USA is currently touring Native Views: Influences of Modern 
Culture – coast to coast – from April 2004 through December 2007.  Native 
Views is a contemporary Native American art exhibition comprised of 71 
artworks by 54 Native American artists.  Native Views explores the 
influence of popular culture and the many commonalties shared by all 
Americans.  Visitors discover the richness, complexity and breadth of 
contemporary Native American art while examining varying perspectives on 
society.  Guest curator, Joanna Bigfeather (Western Cherokee and Mescalero 
Apache) redefines Native art by broadening the limits and confronting the 
stereotypes that currently define it.
