A great exhibit re: Racism & Kids is one at the Children's Museum,
Boston, called "The Kids Bridge". It uses three themes: 1-Value yourself
and others, 2-Diversity is a plus; and 3-Racism exists, it hurts, but we
can do something about it.

The artifacts in the exhibit highlight the diversity of cultures in the
Boston area. The interactive laser videos are narrated by students
explore the exhibit's themes. The exhibit's target audience age is 8-12
yrs old. If she is still at the Children's Museum, you may want to talk
to Kathyrn Jones (617/426-6500); she was very involved in its
development.

Smithsonian's SITES has a traveling version of this exhibit, which was
initially tested in Washington, D.C. To the best of my knowledge it is
still travelling. (I don't know where though.)

If you would like more info, I may have some of the teacher packets used
in the Washington, D.C., experiment in my files to send. You can e-mail
me directly at- [log in to unmask] I would be glad to mail it to you.

Oh, yes, there is also the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, which I
hear does a good job dealing with the issue of racism. Unfortunately,
I have not been able to visit the museum, yet. But there has been several
articles written about it you may want to look up.
