For those of you interested, the ASTC (Association of Science-Technology
Centers) website may be found at www.astc.org. Publications may be found under
ABOUT ASTC. Included in the EXHIBITS section of the catalog is Planning for
People in Museum Exhibitions by Kathleen McLean, a book which addresses many of
the relevant issues by

"provid[ing] museum professionals with a broad understanding of the many
disciplines needed to produce effective exhibitions, from industrial, graphic,
and interior design to writing, editing, psychology, and management. Two
appendices lay out an approach to exhibition criticism and provide resources and
guidelines for using environmentally friendly materials."

Try It! Improving Exhibits Through Formative Evaluation, edited by Samuel
Taylor, addresses the formative evaluation process.

The ASTC website also offers additional publications, information about the
1997 ASTC Conference, job opportunities, and ASTC programs.

If there are any questions, ASTC may be contacted at 202/783-7200 or by
replying off-list.
