Director of Development

Bring your Expertise to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center:

This nationally recognized, state-of-the-art museum and research center
seeks a dynamic, experienced professional to oversee all aspects of
fundraising, marketing, communications and media activities. The museum
opened in 1998 to promote a better understanding and appreciation of the
traditions and perspectives of the native peoples of the United States and
Canada. Located in beautiful southeastern Connecticut, the award-winning
300,000+ square foot facility features exhibits of Native peoples and
natural history; a 250,000 title research library; a 10,000 title children's
library; a 320 seat auditorium; and laboratories devoted to archaeology and
to the preservation and conservation of a growing collection of artifacts
and works of art.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to design cultivation and
solicitation strategies to secure major gifts from individuals, and
financial support from corporations, foundations, government, memberships
and special events. To qualify, you must have a B.A. degree and 6+ years
executive experience in development and marketing for a non-profit
organization, preferably a museum. A proven track record of successful
major gift solicitations; substantial management and high-level
interpersonal and communication skills are required. An appreciation and
interest in the public dimension of museums, an understanding and respect
for all peoples, and the ability to direct, lead, and inspire diverse and
creative staff are essential. Compensation is competitive for experienced
development executives, and an extensive benefit package includes medical,
dental, vision; 401(k) plans; training and advancement opportunities. For
immediate consideration send cover letter, materials, and salary
requirements to:
