As a student one of my internships was to catalog and store a large ceramic
collection.  Do to a limited budget, I used what was on hand--"acid-free"
document storage boxes (banker box size), polypropylene sheets, buffered
tissue,(non-buffered would be better, but buffered was what we had) the
extruded polyprop tubeshape mentioned in a previous email, and a glue gun.
I built supports for each layer of objects I placed in the box, so the board
shelf within the box rested on folded acid-free board, not the ceramics.
There are several sets of European china stored this way.
I put an image of the complete set within a sleeve on the exterior of the
box. If you would like a specific sketch of how these are packed, let me
know.
It should be very do-able for $100.
