The Vermont Historical Society as part of an IMLS funded Connecting to
Collections grant will hire two interns from mid-May to mid-August 2008.
The interns will participate in a project to survey and assess the needs
of Vermont's collecting institutions (museums, historical societies,
libraries, town & city clerks, and probate courts). The interns will
work with a Collections Advisory Committee and report directly to the
Project Director. Interns will manage e-mail lists and survey databases,
plan and attend regional meetings, communicate and visit collecting
institutions, and prepare oral and written reports for Advisory
Committee. College graduate with BS / BA in museum/library/
archives/conservation program or currently in a graduate program in one
of these areas. At least one year of experience in a museum, library, or
archives working with collections. A basic understanding of collections
care, collections management and current conservation standards and
practices for museums, libraries, or archives will be needed. Driver's
license and car required. $4,800.00 plus some travel expenses. For a
