IMLS Director and Key Agency Officials Take Part in American Association
of Museums Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo(tm)

April 27 - May 1, Denver
Colorado Convention Center

Visit the IMLS Booth at the MuseumExpo, #279

WASHINGTON, DC--Anne-Imelda M. Radice, Director of the Institute of
Museum and Library Services (IMLS), and other agency representatives,
will participate in various events during the American Association of
Museums annual meeting in Denver, CO, April 27-May 1. In addition, IMLS
staff will be available for questions at the booth #279. 

Below is a list of IMLS-related sessions:

Event Title: Public Funding and Public Value-Two Studies Inform the
Discussion 
Description: Findings from two national research studies will provide an
opportunity to consider how public funding affects museum services in
the United States, as well as how the public perceives the value of
museum use -- in person and online -- in relation to a wide range of
other sources of information including libraries, television, books and
the Internet.

Research and Communications

Event Title: Museum Assessment Program Soapbox: Your Chance to Shape the
Future of the Museum Assessment Program
Description: IMLS's Museum Assessment Program (MAP) has helped thousands
of museums improve their operations over the past 26 years. We've been
listening to your comments over the years and want to make the program
even more responsive to your needs. Help shape the program as you weigh
in on such issues as barriers for applying to the program, challenges
and solutions of keeping your board and staff engaged, obstacles in
completing the self-study, ways to add more value to the program, ways
to turn assessments into funding dollars, and how to continue to support
museums once the report has been turned in. AAM/MAP Advisory Committee
staff and leadership and IMLS need your input to help MAP better serve
program participants and increase its value in the field.

Event Title: Success With Federal Grants: A Dialogue Between Grantmakers
and Grantseekers
Description: Grant seekers from one large and one small museum and Grant
makers from federal agencies including IMLS, National Endowment for the
Arts (NEA), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and National
Science Foundation (NSF) will discuss the process of how to successfully
develop and apply for federal grants.

Event Title: Making Better Museums: New Knowledge from IMLS-Funded

development of shared social values, and sites that contribute to an
individual's sense of self and personal well-being.
