Bob,

Benezit "Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs" - a bible of sorts in art museums - lists:

Cavalla, Giuseppe, peintre à Turin, où il naquit en 1859 (Ec. Ital)

So there was an artist of that name, born in Turin, Italy in 1859, active in the late 19th C.

Not much to go on. I searched Canada's national inventory and found no work by any Cavalla.

Hope this little bit helps.

Dear Bob,

I can't help you personally but have forwarded your enquiry to a
couple of museum lists where you might get some assistance. Good
hunting. Best, John Perkins
