Knowing that I will be one of many who will respond to this issue, I just
want to say that as museums we are constantly in the business of deciding
what objects should and should not be in museums, and therefore I think that
this discussion is one that is very valid for our list.  Would a
Revolutionary War flag or a Civil War flag, tattered though it might be, be
burned today?  I think not.  This flag from the World Trade Center will be
able to tell an amazing story in the appropriate institution for years to
come if it survives.
