I have been away for a few days so forgive me if this has already been answered. A look through my inbox didn't turn up anything, but you never know.

It has been my experience that conservators in their own studios carry fine art insurance and that they cover you under that based on the amount you give them as the value. I would hesitate using a conservator that would make you sign a waiver of liability and provide nothing in the case of a fire, theft, etc.

Is it standard for art conservators to ask for a waiver of liability for any
loss or damage as well as for the quality of work performed by them and that
the art is left totally at the owner's risk?
Is there such a thing a malpractice insurance or is there a policy that
museums can take out when sending something away to be conserved? Thank
you.
