SOLINET, Inc., the Southeastern Library Network, is pleased to announce

******FUNDAMENTALS OF BOOK REPAIR******

Date: Wednesday & Thursday, July 19 & 20, 2006
Place and Time: Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Lexington, KY
8:30 am to 5 pm

This two-day class teaches staff members how to perform simple,
economical, preservation-quality repairs on materials on circulating and
reference collections. It focuses on techniques that do not require
expensive equipment and supplies, and can be performed successfully
after a short training period. Lectures and discussions address
preservation principles, treatment decision-making, and organizing and
equipping a repair unit. Included with the registration fee is a book
repair kit containing a variety of tools, samples of paper, cloth and
adhesives provided by support from the National Endowment for the
Humanities. This is a prerequisite for Intermediate of Book Repair.
