I agree with Trent when it comes to the kinds of sources he discusses, which
are either written documents or flat images; but the original question, I
think, had to do with objects. Objects viewed through photographs displayed
on the web are more of a gray area. I would accept interpretations and
descriptions based on objects viewed through photographs from an
undergraduate; but not from a graduate student, I think. It would also
depend on how important that form of evidence was to the argument being
made, and the degree of difference it would make to see the originals.
