Heather-

An insurance rider in the case of a Chihuly exhibition would simply mean
increasing the amount of coverage you normally have to the amount required
by the Chihuly organization. Your insurance agent should be able to handle
this without too much difficulty, they will almost certainly contact your
regular fine arts coverage holder, but you may want to get estimates from
another carrier. If you find yourself needing a rider more than once a year
you may find it more cost effective to increase the value of your regular
policy.

Subject: Insurance Ryders

I was hoping some Museum-L members could assist me with a question:
I need to arrange an insurance ryder for a Chihuly glass exhibit coming in
August. I understand the theory but not the "practice details" since this
will
be my first time arranging a ryder. I'm also not directly connected with our
insurance agent since it goes through our financial officer (who is not
always
sensitive to the term "fine arts insurance.") Will our insurance agent know
who to contact for the Ryder or is there another firm I should suggest
contacting? Are there some tips, specific questions I should know, special
wording, etc.? I didn't find much in the New Registration Methods nor
Malaro's
legal text. Any advice would be very helpful. You can respond on or off
list
if you like, thanks!
