The Qatar Museums Authority (http://www.qma.com.qa) unites and focuses the efforts of all museums in the State of Qatar for the acquisition, preservation, and interpretation of collections and monuments held in trust for the Qatari people, and shared with the world at large.  The Qatar Museums Authority provides the leadership and accountability necessary for the development of a strong and growing system of 21st century national museums, and an effective system for protecting, preserving and interpreting historic sites and monuments.

The new National Museum of Qatar (MoQ), currently under development, will  represent the history, heritage, and culture of Qatar, enhancing understanding through exhibitions, education, cultural site visits, and technology-based programming for the nation, the region and the world.  The institutional vision is realized by:

-Presenting the highest quality visitor experiences through exhibitions and programs.
-Collecting, preserving and conserving the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Qatar.
-Enabling and supporting collections-based and other research topics of importance, to broaden the scope and knowledge of Qatar’s cultural heritage.
-Developing and offering educational programming, publications, films, and online learning opportunities that engage visitors and provoke further exploration and study in Qatar.
-Facilitating visitor travel to important cultural sites throughout Qatar while promoting sustainable cultural tourism.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Deputy Director for Curatorial and Collections Management, the Research and Content Development Coordinator (RCDC) is responsible for managing the flow of work and information related to the development of core exhibitions for the new National Museum of Qatar.  Liaising between Curators, Researchers, Interpretive Planners, Collections staff, Programs staff, and Exhibit Designers, the RCDC will be responsible for scheduling, producing process documents, managing online collaborative tools, managing a contact database, managing feedback, monitoring progress, and project document archiving.  The RCDC will coordinate and facilitate the logistics of meetings, project team communications, and distribution of information and materials to various team members and departments.  The RCDC will maintain detailed records of curatorial and research output, as well as potential items (objects, media, and other collections) for use in exhibitions, as well as identifying copyright and intellectual property issues and obtaining permissions where necessary.  The Research and Content Development Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring that project deliverables are on time by providing accurate and timely information, research and reports, as well as managing process and progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Museum Studies or related discipline
-Minimum 3–5 years experience in research, content development, content coordination, or project management in a museum setting
-Solid record of coordinating highly detailed projects; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
-Proven communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build effective relationships, an ability to negotiate and strong conflict resolution skills
-Demonstrated high level written communication skills, especially in regard to the preparation of reports, policies and procedures
-Solid analytical skills and meticulous in attention to detail
-Knowledge of various research methods and exhibition development processes desirable
-Understanding of copyright and intellectual property issues desired
-High level of proficiency with database software, cataloging software, project management software
-Understanding of cataloging standards and database administration issues
-Thoroughly versed in Microsoft Office
