Museums for America Application Deadline is November 15

IMLS's largest grant program for museums will award over $16 million to
museums nationwide in FY2006

Washington, DC-The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)
encourages U.S. museums, from art to zoo, both large and small, to apply
for funds from the largest federal grant program for museums, Museums
for America. 

"Museums for America grants help museums sustain cultural heritage,
support lifelong learning and act as centers of community engagement,"
said IMLS Acting Director Mary Chute. "The grants enable these
institutions to advance their strategic plans and create public value."

In FY 2005, IMLS awarded $16,859,240 to 169 museums of all types and
sizes across the country. For examples of the types of projects Museums

The deadline is fast approaching: November 15, 2005. IMLS encourages all
eligible museums to apply. Applicants may request up to $150,000.
Guidelines, successful proposals, and application forms are available on
