The State Historical Society of Wisconsin collects both archival and
artifactual
materials for its Social Action Collections. The Society actively collect
materials
relating to anti-war movements, peace movements, labor movements, socialist
movements,
environmentalism, action by both sides in the abortion controversy, and action
on both
sides of the Native American treaty rights issue. Particularly in archival
materials,
this collecting priority is national, not limited to Wisconsin. The Social
Action
archives comprise one of the most extensive such collections in the United
States. Our
artifact collections in these areas tend to be more closely related to our own
state
(these generally include buttons, signs, banners and everyday artifacts used in
symbolic
ways in demonstrations).

For further information, you could contact Rick Pifer in Archives Collections
Development ([log in to unmask]) or Paul Bourcier , Museum Chief
Curator
([log in to unmask]).

Good luck in your research.
