On the contrary friend!  Driving into the sun's glare without proper
sunglasses greatly accelerates the process of vision disorders commonly
associated with aging - specifically cateracts.  In fact, people tend to
develop this condition in their age because of the cumulative effects of
those brief moments.  An unprotected viewing of a solar event (eclipse
partial or total) simply multiplies the damaging effects exponentially.
Further, light of that brightness tends to "burn" the retina; so far, I
don;t believe there is a laser surgery to correct that!
