I've just joined this list recently.  Have been in the museum field for
about ten years, and have to say that I am really surprised by some of
crass, sarcastic, and sometimes petty comments that are posted.  Email
doesn't serve sarcasm very well.  YOu have no idea who the speaker is,
their point of view, whatever.

Some of the issues are very important and need to be brought out in larger
more formal forums where we can collaboratively work on things and
implement change.  Do any of the issues reach people who are in a position
to make change?  Are they listening?  What can we do to put these ideas on
the front burner (AAM, AASLH sessions, courses, etc.)  That was a minor
aside.  I really did not want to comment but this was just one
distasteful/insulting comment too many.
