The Book "The Motel of the Mysteries" by McCauley is still one of the
all-time greats of museum humor.  I personally regard the Museum of Jurassic
Technology as funny, as is, in a way the book "The Museum at Purgatory" by
Nick Bantock.  The illustrator (whose name escapes me) that did a collection
of icthyological drawings that toured natural history museums a few years
ago rates high.  There have been a number of visual and verbal spoofs of
exhibits over the years (not jokes, really funny essays), particularly in
the New Yorker.
