I agree with everyone on adding nomenclature terms.  I can't remember the
exact objects that were being asked about but it seems to me that something
under Medical & Psychological T&E would be appropriate; however, I do know
that some of our medical bottles were cataloged as Product Package (i.e.
over-the-counter bottles).

I would also agree with David on the number.  If the item can stand on its
own we give it its own number.  We use Paradox here and we have input fields
for the history of the item, cross reference, and remarks.  In a case like
yours we would note in those fields that the item, in this case the
stethoscope, came in artifact #whatever, in this case the doctor's bag.

However, whichever way you decided to take care of it be sure to make notes
about which way you decided to do it so it can become consistent policy for
your institute.
