There is museum dedicated to Lamen lovers near the JR Shin-Yokohama Statoin wh
ere the bullet train stops before reaching Tokyo from the west.
Historical exhibits are shown, as well as eating corners for real lamen of sev
eral kinds which can be found all over Japan such as the SUMIRE of Sapporo, KA
TSUMARU of Tokyo, GENKOTSU-LAMEN of Tokyo, ROKKAKUYA of Yokohama, Shin-FUSAI-K
AN of Kyoto, IPPU-DO of Hakata, KO-MURASAKI of Kumamoto and some others.
Lamen is originally a copy of the Chinese soup noodle, but it has been tailore
d to the Japanese tongue already in the beginnng in this century. As a whole,
the Japanese Lamen has a very different character from their big brothers of t
he Chinese Food Cultural Territory. The museum was established three years ago
.
