We have boxes of items for all visitors, not just visually impaired.
Our interpreters deliver 20 minute "gallery talks" with items from our
education collection. They pass those items around as they give the
talk. Kids love it and we feel the objects enhance the overall
experience. Since we are a sports museum obtaining reproductions is not
a problem.

Museum colleagues:

Could you tell me if your museum has boxes or carts of items that are
used for visually challenged visitors? What do they contain and do you
include any corresponding information with them for the educators,
docents or interpreters to use?

Thank you.
