The Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association/Memorial Hall Museum, in
Deerfield, Massachusetts,in collaboration with Native and French Canadian
cultural organizations, and with funding support from both NEH and IMLS,
has launched a new website that focuses on the 1704 raid on Deerfield,
Massachusetts, with the goal of commemorating and reinterpreting the vent
from the perspectives of all the cultural groups who were present. The
website brings together historical scenes, stories of people's lives,
historical artifacts and documents, essays, voices and songs, historical
maps, and a timeline, to illuminate broad and competing perspectives on
this dramatic event. Using innovative technology, the website demonstrates
a model approach for depicting and voicing diverse perspectives of history
in a way that is engaging and compelling to the general public. View the
site at http://1704.deerfield.history.museum.
