     Cranbrook Academy of Art
     Cranbrook Art Museum



     Qualifications

     An undergraduate degree and at least five years of experience in
     public relations.  Computer literacy required.



     Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

     Assist in the development of an annual public relations program for
     Cranbrook Academy of Art and Cranbrook Art Museum which integrates the
     divisions goals and objectives with those of the Cranbrook community.

     Initiate regular meetings with the director of the Art Museum and
     director of the Academy to review issues and activities, and provide
     appropriate counsel on potential public relations opportunities.

     Identify opportunities for media placements for the Academy, develop
     and distribute news releases and actively solicit placement of those
     items in local, national and international media outlets.

     Ensure faculty achievements and honors are appropriately recognized in
     international and national trade publications to further enhance the
     Academy's reputation.

     Work with the Art Museum's curators and directors on promotional
     activities relating to exhibitions and special events.

     Build and strengthen relationships with print and broadcast media,
     particularly local art reporters/critiques, and act as chief liaison
     with the media for the Art Museum.

     Advise on content, conduct research, write and edit materials for
     Cranbrook publications.

     Assist with public relations activities for Academy and Art Museum
     fund-raisers, including acting as public relations liaison with
     volunteer organizing committees.

     Assist in developing and monitoring appropriate public relations and
     marketing budgets.

     Supervise designers, printers, photographers and other vendors as
     needed in the production and mailing of Cranbrook publications.

     Work with other Cranbrook divisions in coordinating publication
     scheduling and mailing timetables to provide smooth flow of materials
     and help prevent overlap.

     Update and maintain public relations mailing lists for the Academy and
     Art Museum.

     Maintain photography files for the Academy and Art Museum.

     Assist the Director of Public Relations and Marketing with special
     projects as necessary.


     Supervision Received

     This position reports directly to Cranbrook's Director of Public
     Relations and Marketing.
