Just to add to the chaos of proposals (without giving reasons):

the rise of the automobile
the airplane
the telephone
the radio, television

the central heating (in the West)
the general water supply (and water toilets) to virtual every house in the
West

the end of colonies

the unification of the world, not only via Internet, but also via:
the United Nations
the European Union
the NAFTA
the ASEAN

and on the bad side the various new (atomic) bombs, the tanks, the jet
fighters, the land mines, the laser guns, the ABC weapons,
and especially new to this century: the bombing of civilians
the Holocaust

and at the end of my (not complete) list:

the world-wide tourism
the bikini

Greetings,

Peter, the listing Rebernik
