Hi everyone. Thanks so much for all the input on traveling exhibitions. It has been very helpful. It has also been very interesting to follow the threads on traveling exhibitions and to see the global reach of this list.

Ok, now the 'Shameless Plug' for our traveling exhibition

TECHNO: Detroit's Gift to the World

Opening January 2003, The Detroit Historical Museum pays homage to a style of music that was born in Detroit and has had the world dancing for more than 20 years. Techno: Detroit's Gift to the World will tell the story of how Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May and Eddie Fowlkes, four young men from Metro Detroit, created and developed this style of music and trace it's early beginnings from local Detroit clubs to a Global sensation.

Featured in more than 1900 sq. feet of gallery space, Techno: Detroit's Gift to the World will be the first time that a major exhibit on the history of Techno music has been produced. This exhibit will chronicle the history of the music and feature many DJ's from metro Detroit that have traveled the globe and have been ambassadors throughout the music world. It will also introduce Techno to the masses, celebrate the music and culture, teach the "business of music" and tell the history of the music and its Detroit roots to all.

Techno: Detroit's Gift to the World will not only tell the story of how these Detroiter's travel the world sharing the music with the masses, but the exhibit will become the first traveling exhibit from the Detroit Historical Museum. Upon it's closing in June 2004 the exhibit will tour educational institutions and museums around the world.
