It really depends on individual circumstances which dictate need, size/type
of the museum, and on what is covered by staff.  An all volunteer
organization will have different committees than one in which the Board is
primarily policy making and fundraising.  There are some, though, that come
to mind as being pretty universal (or should be): Executive Committee; a
Board Development Committee; Finance; Development (which encompasses
fundraising and usually also includes Membership); Personnel; and Long
Range/Strategic Planning.  Others, if not covered by staff or to work with
staff might include: Facilities; Public Relations; Program; Collections,
Publications.

Interested in what other museums have as board committees (ex. finance,
